JournalismJobs.com - Job Listing - Multimedia sports journalist

The Tyler Morning Telegraph and ETFinalScore.com seeks a multimedia sports journalist who has the energy and drive to cover news in our growing community.

This is a general assignments position, so be prepared to cover it all, from Little League to Cowboys, but especially high school athletics, along with junior college sports and NCAA Division III athletics. You might be reporting a short feature one minute, and the day’s big, breaking story the next.

Sports is vital to the area that has produced Heisman Trophy winners and contenders as well as multiple star players in college and the NFL, as well as the NBA and Major League Baseball.

The ideal candidate will help us expand our digital and real-time reporting efforts, engaging readers through social media and frequent updates on our digital platforms. Knowledge of video and the ability to use it as a storytelling tool is a plus.

Experience as a full-time reporter at a daily newspaper is preferred, though we would consider a candidate with strong internships. There’s room for career growth in our organization, and we have a track record of developing leaders in our newsroom.

The Tyler Morning Telegraph — a debt-free, financially sound family owned daily with a stable circulation — is an industry innovator and a fantastic place to work. We just remodeled our building into a state-of-the-art, open concept work environment complete with an in-house gym. Tyler, a city of about 100,000 residents, is nestled in the scenic piney woods of East Texas, about 90 minutes east of Dallas. Recreational opportunities abound in and around this beautiful town. It's a great place to live, work and play.

This sounds appealing. Covering high school football in Texas is unlike covering it in any other state in the country

Has anything happened with this position? I applied when it was first posted and when I followed up about it in Mid-July, they said that they're still going through applications. With football season starting, it's crazy that they may not have someone in place yet.
