Do you not tip the waiter at expensive restaurants?

    Good non-sequitur.

I also don't tip garbage collectors, dry cleaners, couriers, cleaning ladies or streetcar drivers.

You will never actually be moved.

Everytime you think you're finished, you'll go back in your apartment and find one more goddamn box that you'd forgotten about.

I do tip Tony, the guy who cuts my hair. $5.00 on a $30.00 cut.
    Does that vindicate me? :)

I go to the Hair Cuttery. $16 cut and shampoo, and I make it an even $20. So yeah, you're cool. :)

Seriously, you gotta tip the movers. Having several friends who used to do that, trust me when I say it's an ass-load of work. Hard work. They're doing you a tremendous service. It's worth $20 or so, depending on the size of your move.

Removed the Brook Jacoby poster from your bedroom wall?

You make it sound like they're doing me a favour.

Of course it's hard work. So's humping around cartons if you're a truck driver. I doubt they get tips.

Sure they're doing you a favor. Otherwise, you'd move yourself. I've moved myself halfway across the country -- twice -- and I know that the next time I move, I'm hiring a moving company. And I will tip them generously.

May your nice furniture be scratched all to hell! :)

No, they'd be doing me a favour if they moved me for nothing.

If I pay a company close to two grand to move me, it's called "fee for services rendered" It's nothing ressembling a favour.

Of course I could have hired Two Guys with A Truck, paid them $500.00 and crossed my fingers.

Anyway, I'll wait till Huggy reports back on the Canadian side of this argument.

The last movers I hired --- which I damn well hope are indeed the last movers I will ever hire --- took apart my waterbed and then reconstructed it at the new place . . . upside down (or backward, as I cannot describe what they were trying to do). Then the "lead" mover asks for a tip for his two co-workers.

"Here's $20. Promise never to come back and I'll give you $40."
