Shawshank plays a lot on cable, and is still a cash cow for the studio:

Yeah. That surprised me as well. I don't notice it when flipping channels like I do Shawshank. I suppose it's because I have no interest in watching it.

Scarface doesn't surprise, though. I forget who it was, but one of the rappers featured on MTV Cribs back in the day had it playing on a 24-hour loop in his house.

Last time I happened to catch Scarface on basic cable, I counted at one point 15 consecutive commercials.

Is there any weekend when Fantastic Four or Iron Man *isn't* on TNT or FX?

Some basic cable channels are better than others. TNT doesn't seem too bad. CMT is abysmal.
I tried to watch "Hoosiers" on CMT once. Not only did they edit out several key lines and scenes, they rarely went more than 5 minutes without a commercial break that lasted 5-7 minutes. Made me vow to never watch a movie on CMT again.

I can't imagine The Groove Tube ever being on anything but a pay channel such as HBO or Showtime.

Think it was part of the rotation on one of Showtime's lesser networks 2-3 years ago.

    Brown 25, baby.
