Did you read the book with the 3_D glasses? It made all the difference.

Clockwork Orange was purposely so, but I'll give you that. Great book, great movie.

I don't understand what you mean about Cuckoo's Nest. Thought it was an easy book to read. Wonderful movie, though.

And Ace, the Cuckoo book was a rough read. Movie was much better.

I haven't actually read that Philip K. Dick story (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?) but I have read others and have to assume that you are correct. Interesting concepts but not great writing.

On the flip side, has a book inspired by a movie ever surpassed the movie? Like Star Wars books, etc., etc.

Wasn't aware it was a book first. Makes sense, though.

As for High Fidelity, if you see the movie first, then read the book, it's a bit off-putting that the book is set in Britain and makes repeated British cultural references. But once you pick up the slang, it's a great read.

Agree on The Shining, Virgin Suicides, High Fidelity. Fast Times at Ridgemont High was a book?

Heart of Darkness never did it for me.

As much as I love "High Fidelity" as a movie, I'm reluctant to say it's better than the book. That's a damn good book.
