Who was Barbra Streisand's first choice for Kris Kristofferson's role in "A Star is Born"?

Yup. And he wanted to do it but Streisand was offering a cut of profits and the Colonel would only take payment up front.

If that is correct. ... As much as I have trouble buying a romantic pairing of Kris Kristofferson and Barbra Streisand. ... I'd have had way more trouble buying Elvis and Streisand as love interests.

Let me see if I can do one without screwing it up:

For which actor did Cameron Crowe originally write the part of Russell Hammond in Almost Famous?

Bonus: Who was originally cast as Penny Lane?

Harold Ramis wrote the part of Boon for himself, but was rejected because he was too old.. Otter was Chevy Chase was Otter (as noted), but Landis talked Chase out of it by saying it would be an ensemble. Dan Ackroyd was written for D-Day and I think his was just scheduling conflicts . Though, something, tells me producers wanted Bill Murray in there somewhere.
