    Sonic Youth and the Replacements. Sonic Youth because of their influence and the Replacements because they are awesome.

    Petty also did Full Moon Fever in 1989 and also had the Traveling Wilburys album. Not saying that earns a win, by pushes the match out a little more.

    You're right. The discography I was looking at was strictly with the Heartbreakers. I was thinking 'Full Moon Fever' was early 90s.

    I'll still go with Bruce, I think, but 'Full Moon Fever' is pretty great. ('Damn the Torpedoes' was October of '79. Bump that into 1980 and I'm a solid Petty vote.)

    Is Birdscribe still around here at all? That guy HATED the Pretenders. Like, more than I would have thought possible.

    By far my favorite Pretenders song. I'm not a huge fan overall but that's a classic.
