Cheers popped into my head as soon as I saw the thread. The lyrics for the extended version are superb.

Honorable Mention: Mary Tyler Moore, Hill Street Blues, The Flinstones and Dallas.

That Hill Street Blues theme sounds like the first season. With some themes (like that one and Dallas), there are subtle changes to the song almost every year. Recognizing the changes through the cast changes is cheating!

First and foremost, M*A*S*H. Not even close.

After that, a couple of Mike Post entries in Hill Street Blues and The A-Team. Stu Phillips was far ahead of his team with the Knight Rider theme. Not to be forgotten: The Andy Griffith Show.

How about those who used tunes that were well known before the shows became recognizable?
"Reflections" by The Supremes - China Beach
"My Life" by Billy Joel - Bosom Buddies
"With a Little Help From My Friends" by Joe Cocker - Wonder Years
(There are others ... continue to add ... )

My first thought was Cheers. But then I got it right.

(budcrew, I don't even think wonder years counts, because it was a song before it was a theme. It's not like it was written for that show. EDIT: which Sam Mills just hit on above)

So what are you so afraid of?? ;D ;D

Seriously, my vote is "Brady Bunch." Maureen McCormick just released her autobiography and called it "Here's the Story." Everybody will recognize that.....it was a smart move on her part.

That said, the book is a total downer. Barry Williams' book was way better.
