This should go with the Marinelli-Parker thread.

The worst one I've ever heard was at the NCAA Tournament in Chicago about six years ago when one of the AJC writers asked a Florida player who had just been in a fight with a teammate if he was considering going into boxing after his basketball career was over.

I'll get it out of the way. Doug Williams... whether it was asked or not asked, it is going to come up anyhow.

Covering the tournament another year a radio guy asked Bob Knight if he had decided which of the chairs on the court looked the most throwable.

To his credit, Knight just stared the guy down and took another question.

"Have you ever masturbated in your life?"

That was a coach, Dale Brown, asking a reporter a question after an LSU game at Kentucky.

    Who was the reporter?

Those who are more veteran than I am might remember. I don't. I think it was Billy Reed, but I'm not sure. There's a poorly typed but extensive transcript of the press conference that is easily Googled, but it doesn't identify the reporter (that I am aware of).

Quality stuff, J_D. You're right; the one I found doesn't name names.

Birmingham TV reporter asked Gene Stallings after the 1994 season-opener if Forrest Gump would be suiting up for Alabama any time soon. Stallings proceeded to go on a mini-tirade about how the film misrepresented Bear Bryant.

    Bizarre ...

Sorry, nothing will ever top Doug Williams being asked, "How long have you been a black quarterback?"

    Case closed.
