    Hold it, Poin
    I'm just sayin' ..

And look, every state has backwards people living in it.
This is a good example of some "backwards" Mississippi people in the news today:

    Every state has 'em

Sometimes "backwards" states -- or at least the ones you THINK are backwards -- can surprise you.

I was working at my two gigs ago job of updating government directories and had to call around to various state offices. I was one of several people working on updating state government directories that had fallen WAY behind.

Anyway, my list of states included some big states, such as New York. One of the states on my list was Montana. I've seen a wide variety of hopelessly outdated pages and links and had gotten some runaround from some of the state offices. So I go to the Montana Web site. Lo and behold, it's modern, it's snazzy and it's up to date. I call the first office and the secretary goes, "everything you need is on the Web site and it's up to date."

Montana's Web site was better than Minnesota's, Michigan's or New York's if I remember correctly.

Seriously, Mississippi ranks first in both percentage of people below the poverty line and infant mortality.

Having to wait while circus clowns take their sweet time filling your gas tank is irritant enough.

And isn't the age of consent 12?

What's the saying - from your mouth to Gods ears.

I will say when I ever drive through the CT valley or Torrington area I can hear banjo music and have a "hills have eyes" feeling.

The states I picked were at random with no bias towards any.

You're counting Oprah and Jimmy Buffet as credits rather than debits?
    That's bizarro-world backwards.

Not an indictment on the Bay State, but amusing (from AP) ...

That's because he's from Alabama. It's required by law to make fun of your neighbors in the Gulf South.
For example, Alabama makes fun of Tennessee and Mississippi. Louisiana makes fun of Mississippi. Mississippi makes fun of Arkansas.
And Arkansas has no comeback because they're stupid hicks.
