College sports division:

• Former Southern Miss softball coach Gay McNutt
• Former Tennessee backup QB Jim Bob Cooter (not just a great name, but perfect for a place like Tennessee; only thing better would've been if he had a brother named Cletus)
• And, my personal favorite, Arizona State defensive back Grant Crunkleton.

 

I was in a Tim Hortons in beautiful downtown Nobel, Ontario one night after a game in Sudbury and the girl behind the counter was named Soda Pop. She said she was named after the character in The Outsiders. She produced a driver's license to show that it was her real name.

 

Soda Popinski?

 

It carbonates the senses.

 

Any softball player who names a child Easton should be shot. Matter of fact, I should lot up the rifle ... there's a few of them around here.

 

What about baseball players who name their kids TPX?
