An institution that went out of business for a few years and then reopened. I might agree if this were 1980.

Nevertheless, it still is Bookbinder's. It was an experience then and now.

I think Bookbinder's is still worth a look. It's another tradition place.
I'm telling you, though, Frederick's is really great down on Front.
Ralph's in South Philly is great place for neighborhood Italian.
Really high-end, of course, you've got Le Bec Fin and Striped Bass.

Having never heard of Bookbinders until this thread, I wouldn't go there just to say I went there.

If you have a car, may I suggest a little road trip to Longwood Gardens? It's an old DuPont family estate converted into public gardens that are amazing. Women love it. It's about an hour or less out of downtown Philly west on U.S. Route 1.

I live on Rt. 1. Can I take that all the way up? :)

You can, but you have to either write a country song or produce a Food Network program about it.

I've taken the scenic route up Rout 1 many times from your neck of the woods Ryan. You can also stop off and see the Franklin Mint .

Mike, Route 1 runs north and south. Longwood is actually south of the city but if you use City Hall as a starting point, it would be southwest. Longwood is great at Christmas time. I highly recommend it as you did.

Sorry Drip, but as a Wilmington native I always think of Rt. One is east-west, because that's how it seems when it passes us.

I feel you on that one. I've felt that Wilmington was a cool spot. Had many great times there and still do when I visit. Lots of love for the city.
