If anything, at least all this talk about the building has kept people from talking about Friday's pay cut that was instituted.

Confirmed this. Some news staffers are getting 10% pay cuts. Word is they will reassess things at the end of the summer.

Who do they think they are? Gannett?

No, Gannett would have done a furlough, pay cut then layoffs.

I'll throw this in here since it's as good a place as any. Today's Las Vegas Review Journal sports section has one 2-inch ad for propane tank refills in a 7-page section. Page 8 of the section was the full-page, full-color comics.

Gannett would also tell them they're doing it because they have to rename the newsroom.

Six newsroom employees laid off yesterday, including three with 20-plus years' tenure. One of those three was from Sports — a copy editor who'd been there for nearly 30 years and saved many an ass in that time. In total, two photographers, two copy editors, the business editor and a clerk.

Has the sale of the building to the developer closed? Is the paper going to lease the building back?

Wait. They still had copy editors? Holy cow, I've never seen one in the wild; do they look like regular humans, or are they kind of mutated and shit?

They are mutated all to shit by now. Battle fatigue, too.

    More news, breaking now:

Redevelopment plans revealed for Tampa Tribune site
The Related Group has confirmed its plans to redevelop the Tampa Tribune's downtown waterfront real estate into a residential building. Related, based in South Florida, filed a substantial change request with the city on Wednesday for the Tribune's 4-acre site on South Parker Street. Related is planning an eight-story, 400-unit residential building on the site. It is under contract to buy the site from Revolution Capital, the private equity company that purchased the Tribune in 2012. A Related spokesman said the deal will include a sales-leaseback arrangement with the Tribune, and that terms of the lease had not yet been finalized. He said Revolution plans to close on the property in the first quarter of 2016. The demolition of the Tribune's building will depend on the terms of the lease agreement.
