For some reason, I thought the headline said "NYPD's Poster Boy". I couldn't figure out who or what you meant.

 

Of course he's shocked! He didn't want to admit it, even in his book. Dave Kindred made a good point on the journalism board that there is nothing wrong with having some skepticism when it's warranted and if something doesn't "look" right.

And I agree with his end: weak.

Reading that column if you did not know any better you would have never guessed that Lupica wrote this:

What makes this more amusing is the money shot in ML's notes section, combining in-house backscratching with a charming after-the-fact "not mee" copout:

"And the reason is because they don't think being sued for
libel is that much fun."
