ESPN just reported this morning that six more NBA officials have been disciplined -- but not suspended -- on gambling charges.

They might as well start hiring WWE refs as replacements at this point.

Sure, ESPN has to report it twice. I'm surprised they didn't bury the refs thing on page 2 or something.

At this rate, ESPN will relegate baseball highlights to a 5-minute segment with Buster Olney next season... lol

Stern's last year as commish. He's been an absolute fraud if this has gone on more than 1 season.

Those refs are all bitches / Isiah Thomas

  7. Did you people even read Lawrence's column? These referees have been docked pay for visiting casinos and gambling legally. And Stern should resign over this, Abbott?

Steve, are 80 percent of your posts about how baseball can't get any play on ESPN? Seriously, as a lurker, I'VE even noticed that you're the strangest one-trick pony on the board.

Stern needs to be fired for his uninformed statements over the last few seasons about the virtue of his referees. he's been pretty darn quick to suspend or fine players, coaches and owners for questioning the integrity of the refs. Meanwhile, his holy refs have logged more casino time than the cast of Oceans 11.

  9. You keep up with the hyperbole, pop culture references, and bad jokes ... and I'll just stay informed. Looks like we've established our sides.

Please. I'm guessing that refs have been betting on the ponies or in casinos against the rules. In a non-Donaghy year, you never would have heard about this.

This is may be the reason. Probably came from a weak source.

And, my guess is, in the wake of Donaghy, the word has gone down from Mt. Stern: "No more gambling on anything, period. Like it or we'll get other refs."
