"One thing that is hard to remember, but was true, was that there was at times some eye-rolling at the Law Review about Barack because it was almost as if he was part of the faculty, bigger than a law student. A lot of professors were usually indifferent to students. But they were almost sycophantic to him. It was clearly both because he was brilliant and because he was African-American. He was also incredibly mature and thoughtful and still had his heart in the right place." - David Goldberg, Harvard Law School classmate and fellow Law Review staffer

"At places like Harvard and Yale, young people often demonize folks who have differing political views, and there were plenty of those at Harvard in 1990, when things were so political. Barack wasn't one of them. He earned the affection and trust of almos teveryone. The only criticism from conservatives was that he was somewhat two-faced and made everyone think he was all things to all people, that he was concealing his true feelings. But I never subscribed to that criticism." - Brad Berenson, Harvard Law School classmate

"Obama would say, 'Remember folks, nobody reads it. We spent the most time together talking when we were making the transition from him to me, and his whole message was about keeping the Review in perspective. He knew that this was not a very big deal out in the real world, and he knew because he had already been out there.'" - David Ellen, Harvard Law School, successor as president of the Law Review

Elections are quite different than a law school classroom. Let's not forget he taught part-time at the University of Chicago Law School, an extremely, extremely conservative setting. There was a good article in the NYT Mag during the election about how Chicago shaped some of his views - and forced him to really defend his. Whatever the rhetoric is, I think there is ample, ample evidence that he respects his opposition.

I said credible reason. The Post and EMail and Free Republic are not credible.

The alternative narrative is that he too easily capitulates and compromises. This is a debate in which the outcome is not provable, and where our point of view is going to completely color our interpretation. So, in other words, probably not even worth continuing.

I still can't believe that nobody has come out who remembered him from Harvard. That's damning.

The P & E is calling for the overthrow of the government. It also does not allow anyone to refer to Obama as "President."
If it's a forgery, why didn't Hawaii prosecute the forger?

The guy wrote two books about himself. Reading them might have been a good place to start.

Of course, they were written by Bill Ayers, but ... *blue font off*

The "We didn't know anything about him" line has always been a load of hooey. Get off your ass and do some homework. Turn off Fox and pick up a book or two. It ain't that hard.
