I don't get how you classify KISS (and Rush) as metal, and leave Anthrax off the list, but whatever.

    He's holding the guitar wrong.

Does Van Halen really qualify as metal?

People thought Van Halen was metal when they first came out, years before thrash hit.

As a one-time KISS fanboi, the Creatures of the Night era was very metal sounding. The Revenge album could also be considered metal.

Hendrix? What the fuck? Jimi's music was full of many different styles, but I've never thought of him as a "metal" guy, particualrly when you think of what Clapton (in Cream) and Page (in Zep) were doing at that time.

Some great stuff on there: Garth Brooks doing "Hard Luck Woman" and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones ripping through "Detroit Rock City".

I saw Guns N Roses open up for Aerosmith in 1988.

GNR had 1 1/2 albums of material and they blew Aerosmith off the stage.

    1. Led Zep
    2. GNR
    3. Metallica (pre 1991)
    4. Black Sabbath
    5. AC/DC

No. And Pantera at only 21 is blasphemous.
