More impressive: 2,000 rushing yards or 2,000 receiving yards?

or, that the best single season receiving yardage occurred on a team that only won 4 games yet a back that ran for 2000 yards got his team into he playoffs. Not to denigrate Mr Johnson's accomplishment but it was relatively meaningless.

Johnson should have had a record-setting season. His quarterback had a record-setting season -- 727 attempts. Maybe if it had come with some wins, it would feel like more of an accomplishment. Last year, he had 11 more TDs, a little better YPC, and his team made the playoffs.
It's like Drew Brees. Not saying he's not great. Like Johnson, he is among the best on the field right now. But Brees threw for 5,000 yards in a 7-9 season. I'm not impressed.

Most passing yards by a quarterback in a single season, with that team's top receiver:

    1. Drew Brees, 5,479 yards: Jimmy Graham, 1,310 yards
    2. Peyton Manning, 5,235 yards: Wes Welker, 1,569 yards
    3. Drew Brees, 5,277 yards: Marques Colston, 1,164 yards
    4. Dan Marino, 5,084 yards: Mark Clayton, 1,389 yards
    5. Drew Brees, 5,069 yards: Lance Moore, 928 yards
    6. Matthew Stafford, 5,038 yards: Calvin Johnson, 1,681 yards
    7. Matthew Stafford, 4,967 yards: Calvin Johnson, 1,964 yards
    8. Eli Manning, 4,933 yards: Victor Cruz, 1,536 yards
    9. Tony Romo, 4,903 yards: Dez Bryant, 1,382 yards
    10. Kurt Warner, 4,830 yards: Torry Holt, 1,363 yards

Johnson (twice) is the only top receiver to average more than 100 yard a game for one of those passers. I don't think that's a coincidence.

Tim Ryan of Fox is not impressed. So not impressed that he left Megatron off his All-Pro team, because Brandon Marshall and A.J. Green played for winners.

He could have just pointed out that Marshall and Green had more than twice as many touchdowns as Calvin Johnson, though by that logic he should have voted for Dez Bryant.

Green will be the best receiver in the game in three years, but Johnson and Marshall are no-brainers this year.

Agreed on both counts. Then Amari Cooper takes over.
