DirecTV is dropping Versus on August 31 according to the message DTV is scrolling on Versus as I watch the IAAF championships.

Dish did this a few years ago. They'll be back. Hell, our local cable company dropped our NBC affiliate for a month earlier this year over one of these disputes.

Just saw the whole message. They haven't agreed to a new carriage agreement yet. I guess the message is just a negotiating ploy.

Versus is owned by Comcast, which is the enemy to DirecTV.

    IndyCar will be gone too.

Very good chance of a settlement about two minutes to midnight on the 31st.

And IndyCar has a 10-year contract with this outfit that considers DTV/Dish to be the enemy.

(matter of fact, DirecTV was one of the IRL's major sponsors until the Versus agreement, and then it was rather quietly dropped).

Yeah, that IRL deal looks better and better, doesn't it? Very sad, really.

Wow. First dent in the armor ever for DirecTV, at least while I've been a customer. Not nearly enough of a loss to get me to go back to cable, though.

Comcast is demanding DirecTV pay exorbitant fees for the right to show stuff nobody's watching.

Versus is on Dish now, at least.
