    If only they had thought of Deal Chicken sooner. Think of the jobs that could have been saved.

    Sorry for the snark. Hate to see others getting treated like shit. But somewhere, I guess there's a shareholder that's happy. So Gannett has that going for them.

    Almost every time any of these threads start, I just start freaking out and clicking over and over again to see if anyone I know is in trouble.

    A few rounds of layoffs ago, I emailed a friend to find out what was going on and the email I got back was.

    "We're all just sitting here waiting."

    That was the last time I sent that email.

    Hoping to hear from Stagger Lee. I heard Monroe let all its press people go and the News-Star will use the Shreveport press.

    Gannett Blog says Monroe cut 40. I didn't realize Monroe had 40 to cut.

    I heard Des Moines Register columnist Sean Keeler was let go.

    Heard the same thing. Haven't heard any other names from Des Moines yet.
