    I worked for John, too. He had some great points -- an excellent ideas person, could see the big picture when it came to stories and loved to do up great stories in a big way.

    But he could also be the kind of boss who forgot the conversation you had with him the day before about an upcoming story, an upcoming (and annual) event, or the vacation time you told him a month previous that you'd be taking (even if he'd written it on his calendar).

    If John does get offered and does take the job, I hope he remembers 1) to re-read his calendar and his notes every day and commit them to his overall planning calendar; and 2) that praise heaped on the people beneath him reflects positively on him for putting them in positions where they can shine and thereby makes him look good. If he can keep his ego out of the way, he'll be fine.
