I met Buck at the museum a couple of years ago. Actually, from across the lobby, I saw someone giving my mother a hug. He walked away and I asked her who the person was. She told me he was just being friendly and introducing himself to everyone who came into the nearly deserted museum. So I walked over to him and we talked for quite a while. Great guy. Tremendous ambassador for baseball, both old and current.

He gained a huge fan in my mother that day, as well as everyone else in our little group.

Think Bonds and all of his surly, imprersonal B.S. and contrast that with Buck, who is the complete opposite. Amazing that baseball spawned both. Buck's a class act all the way.
