Montgomery Advertiser doesn't make mistake - readers upset anyway

Apparently a lot of Auburn fans misread the hammerhead "AU shucks" as "AU sucks" and have demanded an apology from the editors.

    Truth hurts sometimes. :D

Seriously, I don't know why the paper even felt it necessary to address.

    Didn't know Barners could read.

    I kid, I kid.

Leave it to Alabamians to get irrationally offended because of their own mistake. The Advertiser, though, using the same play on words for a headline three games in a row? Come up with another idea.

What sucks is putting the AU score first - 31 - 34? Just a plain rookie movie.

Honest to gosh, when I saw that earlier today for just a second I read it as AU SUCKS.
    Then it registered with me.

That was a terrible headline. They should apologize.

    1. Who is going to read AU shucks as "aw shucks?

    2. Even if people understood it, that's nearly as biased as saying Auburn sucks.

    Oh, and Auburn sucks.

Anyone who accuses the Montgomery Advertiser of being biased AGAINST Auburn has never read the Montgomery Advertiser (AKA Auburtiser).

Zlati Meyer doesn't get why that's a joke.

Remember when the point of writing headlines was to create such clarity that misunderstandings like this were impossible?

This is what we open ourselves up to when we try to be "cute" or "clever."

That headline is gold, Jerry. Gold!

    I'm such a nerd.
