    Left my job as an SE at a small daily to become an associate editor for a trade magazine that covers the hotel industry six months ago.

    Absolutely love it. Much better pay, benefits, no working nights or weekends or holidays -- ever. Really nice to go home at 5 and not think about work until the next morning. It's still writing and editing, mixed in with travel to cool places and really nice hotels. And if you're really sick, you could string every night of the week covering high school sports. I'm enjoying nights off too much, though.

    I never realized these jobs were out there, and as plentiful as they seem to be. I'd recommend looking into B2B magazines for a mix of journalism and better benefits.
