    Update:

This was a good story idea by Jere Longman. My very first thought was: Hampton? Was she not good enough to play hoops at UConn as originally stated?

Turns out Davis experienced something of an awakening, thanks in part to a meeting with John Lewis.

Very good read. And the SI cover jinx did not cost her a scholarship.

Good for Mo'ne. Got a really good vibe of Hampton's campus after going there to do a story a bunch of years ago.

    She'll do well.

She is 5-7 and a three star recruit.
That doesn't scream typical UConn signee.
I'm not sure any P5s offered her.

She's going to Hampton for softball. Hampton was 24-28 last season.

Let's be real though. We all know females mature earlier than males - and we all know those male classmates that matured earlier than others and dominated earlier and were mediocre in comparison by the time they were upper classmen in high school. I give her a hell of a lot of credit for sticking with it. Getting an education through her athletic ability. It isn't like she was going to make millions as a pro athlete anyway. Ask Danny Almonte.
