'Monday' is a racial slur?

LongTimeListener was the first with a Rick Monday reference. That's Rick in the photo rescuing Old Glory from two would-be arsonists in the Dodger Stadium outfield in April 1976.

James Roark's Pulitzer-nominated photo dominated the wall near the LA Herald-Examiner sports department until the HerEx folded in 1989.

Because of Monday's rescue, I was frankly astounded that Tom Lasorda didn't ask him to serve as a coach of the 2000 U.S. Olympic Baseball Team in Sydney.

Became Biggby Coffee. Had completely forgot they were called Beaners.

Apparently they operated under the Beaners name for 12 years, opening in 1995. They changed the name in 2007.

I never heard the term "Canadians" used as a racial slur until I started waiting tables at a regional Tex Mex chain restaurant. I worked for another restaurant in the same chain and transferred to another location.

Everyone would warn one another not to expect a tip because they had a "table full of Canadians."

Last line from the ESPN story:
Apparently he was a Monday player.

Maybe, to make things even, we can call them the Chicago Tuesday Sox.

Feels insulted she hasn't been mentioned yet.

And as I side note, I had no idea we Canadians were viewed as such poor tippers by the international community.
