The Times pulled out of far-north Citrus County a few years ago but is still in Hernando Co. Leaving Pasco would be unthinkable for either paper, at least I would have thought.

It looks like -- for now -- there will be no changes to Pasco County coverage. Just where the staffers work from.

CON-VER-GENCE! I remember those awful meetings when that Tampa head honcho, forget his name, with zero sense of humor would visit and regal our bored staff with how convergence would be the greatest thing since the pill, sliced bread, the 3-point shot and internet porn.

    Hmmmmmmm, not so much.

Well, I'd call that a pretty significant change. How many times will someone now try to chase a Pasco story by phone from Tampa instead of being on-site? Will the first staffer to turn in a huge mileage bill for a month of Tampa-to-West Pasco runs get a stern talking-to?

"Convergence." Idiotic. MG oversold it and underdelivered. Someone forgot that all parties have to be willing. Let's just say some were continuing to take and take and take and never gave. Oops.

I remember he used to ennunciate every syllable of that word as if it was our panacea...CON-VERG-ENCE!

It was his mantra....and his epitaph. Ah, the wizards of smart.

I think most are going to work from other areas in the county, like starbucks or even home.
