    No. Hubbard has the rights.

And they cheated their asses off to beat Warroad back in '71, too.

Did Roseau beat Moohread in the sections? I'm assuming, because they've played each other seemingly every year for the right to go to state. Hard to believe the Spuds never had a title from those teams the past 15 years or so.

Do you mean 1969? The Hit?

    Yes, they did.

And yes, it is. The Spuds always seem to come up one game short somewhere along the way.

    1969, my bad.
    Henry Boucha lives!

Watched that game on TV. With some relatives from the Range.

What Dave Forbes did to Boucha in the NHL was awful.

That one wound up in court, correct?
I think Warroad's coming back to tie and go 2OT's AFTER Boucha went out is one of the great guts moments of all time.
Wasn't there a tourney rematch sometime in the late '80's?

'71 was Mpls SW vs. Edina. Southwest won in OT on a slapshot off the chest of a freshman 4th line winger. Good stuff. One of Dave Peterson's great coaching efforts. Certainly better than his two Olympics. (Boy is his ghost gonna pound on me tonight)

The original Cake-eater was Mpls Washburn.

It is simply the best high school tournament of any sport in the country. And, yes, Warroad and Roseau have always been separated to give them a better chance of making the tournament.

I think the last time they played in regular season may have been '64. Can anybody verify? I remember stories filtering out of da Range about fights spilling out of rink and into the streets.

Warroad and Roseau still play each other in the regular season every year.

Once in each town, I think.

Roseau won both this year, 5-2 and 8-0.

Fenian, yes it went to court and Forbes was acquitted. He cost Boucha the use of his eye and ended his career with a but-end. The '69 game was tremendous. Don't know if they played in the '80's. Think Rosie might have a MSHL book around, maybe she can tell us.

Inky, Doug Long was the goalie in the '71 game, wasn't he? I think Shelstad was earlier, or did he go to Washburn?

Just to get the final down, Edina won 5-0.

Benilde leads Woodbury 2-0 at the end of two periods. And BSM will start the third with a two-man advantage.
