Even with all their big guns drawn for the deadline, ESPN was way behind on this story

Why? Why the hell would you re-open this? Just when everything turned pleasant again.

Behind on what story? Looks like ESPN's beating all the national media on the Ramirez trade. Also looks like Fox Sports has been either backdating its stories or not resetting its web servers for daylight savings time.

Must have. Why don't you recap for me?

    Let's recap.

The Marlins reportedly killed this deal over money. They insisted on getting $9 million from the Red Sox even though Ramirez is only owed $7 million for the rest of the season.

Ramirez is instead going to the Dodgers, a large-market franchise, because the low-revenue Marlins backed out over money.

And the low-revenue Pirates unloaded yet another quality veteran for prospects.

So, if Ramirez going to the Marlins would have been proof that the system is working, what does this turn of events mean?

    Doesn't appear so.

NESN is also reporting the Sox are paying the Dodgers money.
