With the trade deadline, fast approaching, I figured I'd start a thread.

Will Manny get dealt? Will any deals be as major as the Sabathia/Harden deals?

I think this was mentioned on the running baseball thread, but it looks like Mark Teixeira is the biggest name likely to go. With Chipper Jones and Tim Hudson going on the disabled list, the Braves are toast.

According to Ken Rosenthal, the Angels and the Diamondbacks are the top contenders. I had heard elsewhere that Arizona wants Teixeira, but will not include Conor Jackson in the deal.

Tex to the Dodgers for Loney and McDonald seems the Braves' best bet to me. I think I'd rather have that than Tracy/Owings, because I think Loney is going to win a batting title in the next few years.

Well, this comes out of nowhere - Jose Guillen is unhappy in KC. Knock me over with a feather.

    I, too, am shocked.

I hadn't heard that one involving the Dodgers, but I agree with you. Loney has more upside than Tracy and I'm not sure even buckweaver would still want Owings for the Braves at this point.

Wow, Jose has only played on nine different teams.

    Only nine...

The Teixeira-Angels rumors puzzle me, because all I hear is that the Angels would consider it, but they don't want to give up Casey Kotchman. I would think that if they get Teixiera, the Halos would have to give up Kotchman, otherwise where are you going to put both of them? Teixiera did play some third early in his career, but I think he's a pretty established first sacker now, and the Angels' DH spot is being rotated among the team's four best outfielders.

The report I saw had them reconsidering their stance on giving up Kotchman.

The Yankees need a catcher with Posada going under the knife. The Rangers have a glut of catchers stacked up in the minors behind Laird and Saltalamacchia.

You heard it here first: Laird to Yankees for Ian Kennedy, Austin Jackson and LaTroy Hawkins as a throw-in.

The Twins are said to be eyeing The Troy.

I will break shit if that happens.

Other than that, they're looking to dump Mike Lamb.
