    So a company uses its insurance pool to engage in speculation and creates a bubble with wildly overpriced paper assets, all the while keeping customers in the dark about possible exposure. Pfffft. What could possibly go wrong?

    Article points out that at least when the Ontario Teacher's Pension Fund owned the Maple Leafs, the fund itself was the owner, not the fund manager.

    This guy gets all the potential upside. His investors/insured get all the risk. Nice deal if you an get it.
