And sine the ASG matters now, I'm going with the better player when I fill out my ballot.

I think it has switched from who should start the All-Star game into a discussion of who is the better player.

First, it's not useless at all, and you sound ridiculous saying so. Second, and more important, I was only responding to your asserion that there are no ABs other than balls in play.

Balls have never been put in play.

I'm beginning to think that if Cliff Lee starts the All-Star Game, Rich Harden should pitch after him. Harden is putting up some very impressive numbers. 5-0 Record...67.0 IP/2.15 ERA/83 K's/23 BB's/.274 OBA.

He struck out 11 against the Phillies on Thursday and allowed a total of 6 ER in his five starts in June while striking out 41 in June.

Any takers that think this kid is making an All-Star bid?

He hasn't even been Oakland's best pitcher. Justin Duchscherer is 8-4 with a 1.99 ERA and 0.97 WHIP. One will be there, maybe both.

Of course, Harden has to stay healthy for a few more starts, and that is always the problem. If he ever makes 30 starts in a season, I'll put my money on him winning a Cy Young Award. I just don't see it happening.

I agree. Duchscherer has been dominant, but the A's starting rotation as a whole has been great. In fact, the A's pitching leads the majors in ERA (3.38).

If Harden can stay healthy for an entire season, he could make a legit Cy Young run. His slider is filthy and he's very aggressive with batters in just pitching hard even if he's down in the count.
