    Braves nominal No. 1 starter Kris Medlen has an elbow ligament injury (though the extent is not yet known). Atlanta might pursue Ervin Santana, which would cost them at least $14 million and a first-round draft pick.

    It's not just Medlen. Beachy left Monday's start with "tightness" in his elbow and Minor will probably miss the start of the regular season due to a sore shoulder.

    If the Braves need pitching, I'm sure Theo Epstein will be glad to quote you an absurd price for Jeff Samardzija.

    They tried that over the winter and the Cubs asked for Justin Upton or Jason Heyward. Thanks, but no thanks.

    That one made me crack up. Jason Heyward is several years younger than Jeff Samardzija, has every bit the tools and scouting love, and three of his four seasons have had a higher fWAR than Samardzija has ever produced.

    Can't blame a guy for trying, I guesss...
