So, FOX is going to have two guys calling their games who also draw a paycheck from MLB?

Dick is going to lose his shit.

Oh, great. So, the media insiders knew these guys were creeps, but decided not to tell us? Is that it?

And now he says they were "taken out of context" and that he was "joking"

Orioles sign Johan Santana to a minor-league deal. Would earn $3 million base salary plus incentives if he makes the team:

Rangers beat writer Gerry Fraley adds some specificity to what I was getting at with Kinsler:

I doubt that's very unusual, though. The pro leagues all play up big the "veteran mentor" thing. But who really wants to help a guy take his job?

It's different if it's a backup QB who is brought in specifically to help the young stud. That wasn't the case here (and isn't the case in most places).

    This took some stones:

    Humorous column.

Some of it was hard for me to understand. For instance, when a Dodger hit a double and stood on second base pounding his chest, it was because he was an egotistical show-off. When a Cardinal hit a double and stood on second base pounding his chest, it was because he was happy for his team. He was pounding his chest because he believed in the Cardinal Way.

    That is awesome.

I'm in STL and a Cards fan, and this Cardinals Way stuff is ridiculous. They're a good baseball team that has drafted and developed well. End of story. They have no special way.

Hear, hear. As a Cardinals fan I hate that shit. If the "Cardinal Way" is to play consistent winning baseball, you could apply it to about a half-dozen other teams as well. McClellan is known for playing the curmudgeon role, especially when it comes to baseball.
