MLB Network doing a great job going over the playoff teams and how they all arrived here. Made a strong case for Harrison being in the conversation for MVP.

It's worth tuning into if you have access.

11 Royals with 100 innings played or 50 innings pitched weren't alive when KC last made the playoffs.

Royals: 1st team ever to make the playoffs after finishing last in baseball in homers and walks.

Cardinals and Orioles can have a rematch of the 1944 all St. Louis World Series.

The Royals are amazing. We all thought they'd be good by now, but we never dreamed they'd be good with basically every one of those prospects busting.

Harrison is not the most valuable player on that team. He is behind McCutchen and Martin.

That said, what he did was allow the team to overcome a lousy offseason. Even the Pirates saw him as nothing more than a utility player. That is why he was still in that role even with the gaping holes they left themselves in the lineup.

They did nothing to replace Marlon Byrd in right field when he left as a free agent, but Harrison eventually stepped in and gave them some early production until Polanco arrived. Polanco eventually faltered after giving them a boost, but Snider saved them by getting hot at the right time.

That allowed Harrison to slide to third base and push a very disappointing Alvarez out of the regular lineup.

As cool and as intense as a Dodgers-Giants NLCS would be, they'd need the National Guard in the parking lot to keep the bodies from stacking up like cordwood.
And that scene still wouldn't be as stomach-turning as the sound of millions of New York-born baby boomers waxing nostalgic about watching games through knotholes at the Polo Grounds or Ebbets Field, and crying about what a shame it is that those teams left town a half fucking century ago. Billy Crystal is already getting a chubby just thinking about how his phone will light up with interview requests.

So many potential neighborhood World Series possibilities.

    Dodgers-Angels
    Giants-A's
    Cardinals-Royals
    Nationals-Orioles

As a Halos fan, I do NOT want to see the Orioles, for whatever reason. That said ...
