For those scoring at home I would say this is about a draw. It's a pretty good plea for AK; it says to me there was no way the DA could even get the assault 2nd claim past judgment as a matter of law and to a jury. On the other hand, they get to save face and claim they did nothing wrong. Same goes for AK -- he can no longer proclaim 100% pure innocence.

Might be a draw legally but there are other issues. The UM supporters aren't pleased. Also, there is a question about his wife and their inability to be intimate.
This one is far from over.

Nah, this is pretty close to over. The inside baseball issue is that the cab driver's civil suit attaches to the notion that there was an assault. The plea deal seems to take that off the table. There's a considerable amount of time, effort and money being brought to bear to make the cab driver's civil suit disappear, as I understand it.

Kennedy settles suit against the cabbie and valet (and settles their suits against him). He pays cash, apologizes, and accepts their apologies.

The settlement came after Posey unsuccessfully sought to have information about the case kept from potential jurors. He wanted banned from the trial profanity used that night, proof of Kennedy’s guilty plea and conviction, statements about how much alcohol Kennedy drank that night as well as the coach’s in-court apology last year.

Posey last week said Kennedy’s goal was the truth.
