Interesting video, but you are correct.
This should not be sensationalized. Play it if you've got.
This is a good example of what makes athletes and many other folks hate the media.
    Ratings, ratings, ratings.

By the media, you mean local news stations, right? The same folks who, when the camera shows up, wave like morans to get their face on TV at a double homicide?

They just released a little more of it on tonight's 11pm news. Kennedy's in the back of the squad car talking to the cop. "Sir, you understand there's going to be national ramifications?"

Cop says something like "well, you should have thought of that before..."

Kennedy responds that this will be a national news story, and that's why he would never dream of assaulting someone. Also, he says "There's no way they can have physical evidence of an assault because it didn't happen."

Almost pleading with the cop. Sad to hear, really, but not as sad as "Tune in tomorrow night after the Super Bowl for what else is on the one hour of police video in a News 5 exclusive!" They're even teasing it at the top of their website (www.wlwt.com).

    Douchebags.

Quel suprise. Despite all the hype, the station's report tonight is much ado about nuthin', along with a transcript that repeatedly misspells Rick Pitino's name. Great journalism, there, guys.

The video, now avail on the station's website, is much the same of the short clip they showed last night -- Kennedy trying to tell cops what a big deal this is going to be -- with only a few new items, and none worth the hype.

    The new stuff:
-- The basketball operations guy yelling at the cabbie, something on the par of "You did everything as much as we did! You said f__ you, get out of my cab. Didn’t you? Didn’t you say that? You’re a lying mother f__er. You did say that. Didn’t you say it? Say you said it!" His rant earns him his disorderly conduct charge.
-- One cop's pretty belligerent with Kennedy right away, telling him to get out of the cab and "You make one move and you're going to get lit!" Then, while putting the cuffs on Kennedy, the coach is still trying to explain the situation. Cop says that if Kennedy turns around again -- at a point when Kennedy isn't trying to turn around to talk to the man -- he's going to start earning other charges. Easy there, Serpico.

Still, in all: A giant journalism raspberry to WLWT, Channel 5 in Cincinnati.

EDIT: Looks like they already cleaned up the Pitino misspellings in the story that's online. They had "Patino" on the transcript that aired with the video on the broadcast version.

Channel 5 is the garbage organization that once implicated OJ Mayo and Bill Walker in a fight -- but refused to ID the kid who they were fighting with. They even shot the kid's mother from the waist down to shield her identity.
    Completely worthless local news op.

    Good stuff

Later, Kennedy told police: “I’m begging you ... this is a major deal, man.”
Kennedy added: “This is going to be a national incident, sir.”
An officer responded: “You think we’ve never arrested somebody that’s made national media? ... We deal with the Bengals all the time.”

    From the AP story

Yeah, I meant to post that, too. I'm actually half-shocked that the cop didn't bring up Huggins.

Win at Mississippi State may have saved Kennedy's job.

Wouldn't be anything on the court that got him in trouble. He's been a miracle worker in that regard.

After reading Killick's initial post on the video on Saturday night, I Googled "Kennedy arrest video" and got ... 2 hits.

Just now, about 48 hours later: 807 hits

It'll be over 1,000 by midnight.
