    Um, yes.

Don't forget, it was a twofer. Pincus Green -- also a fugitive -- received a full pardon too.

I hate ... hate, Hate, HATE! ... to say this, but I find Trump's going ahead and using his pardon power to be a reasonably refreshing thing. Why is it so noble to wait to use the power until there's virtually no price to pay for using it?

    Exactly.

Maybe Sheriff Joe didn't deserve a pardon. If people feel strongly about it, they can make Trump pay a political price for it.

    Specific to THIS pardon, though.

Did the Hammonds deserve to be pardoned?

Could be a refreshing assertion of presidential power.

Or a neon sign that there's a get-out-of jail-free card for every stooge and lackey halfwit on the payroll.

    Maybe time will tell.

I don’t know nearly enough about the case to give a good answer.

  8. I think there is a solid argument for yes to be made.

    Regarding the fires:

I don't know who Pincus Green is, but I don't care. Great name.

    Rich's long term partner.

Does sound like a comic book bad guy.

The Hammonds and Bundys should DIAF.

    How are mandatory minimums unconstitutional?
What bugs me about the pardons is that the President seems to be operating outside of the normal pardon office, I don't know if those give pardons have even official replied and had their cases reviewed. He's handing them out like lollipops at a dentist's office. Forget spending 100k for a grip and grin with the President, you're not really anyone unless you've gotten someone pardoned.
