Miley Cyrus: Out and loving it

Big news on the entertainment front yesterday, as Miley Cyrus officially came out of the closet as bisexual:

She was in the closet?

 

As I understand it, she came out to Paper Magazine this week as bisexual. Very brave of her.

 

Next, she comes out to Who Gives A Shit? magazine.

 

The ESPY's will be issuing a press release shortly.

 

You guys, one of the biggest stars in the world just laid it all out there. This is a watershed moment. Think about what a big deal it was when Michael Sam was drafted into the NFL. Even then, you knew he'd be, at best, a role player on an NFL roster.

Here, we're talking about an established superstar. A former Disney Channel sweetheart. She's out. She's loving it. This is huge.

 

I couldn't help but scoff at the "immensely talented singer" in that story.

I would have been more shocked if she had come out as that.

 

Activist?

 

Isn't coming out as bisexual a bit like declaring your major for college as Undecided?

 

Or maybe a double major?

 

At what point does she realize, "OK, I've gotten everyone's attention," and decide to be a singer instead of a circus act?

 

I know Dick has a larger point he's making here related to some other big news lately, I just can't figure out what it is.
