Also on AP wire, but no details yet.

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) -- Texas Tech says it has suspended coach Mike Leach indefinitely.

I guess Meyer started the trend of coaches leaving their teams indefinitely.

Didn't they have a huge pissing match over him interviewing a year or so ago?

Love that guy, regardless. Hope it's nothing monumental.

edit: Yeah, hope it's as long as Meyer's absence.

Found this. It may or may not be the deal:

Guess it'll give him more time to do weather forecasts

I think the squabble last season was over his contract. I can see him being insubordinate enough to tick off the school administration. He probably thought he had a job for life at Tech.

Texas Tech is one of those programs that will become Baylor the second Leach leaves.

Texas Tech wants him to spend more time with his family.

That might just about be the most correct thing ever posted here.

I've always thought Texas Tech would be shit without Leach and Virginia Tech would be shit without Frank Beamer. Those have got to be about the two toughest schools to get to, from a convenience standpoint.

Without Leach in Lubbock, WTF is going to keep a kid from going to any of the other dozen schools not that far away?

Desperate TTech fans have apparently crashed the Lubbock paper's website after the news broke.
