Microsoft patents 'Avoid Ghetto' feature for GPS

Apparently, they will add the latest crime statistics to the process of determining your route:

I've seen an awful lot of complaints about GPSs not taking this into account, so I guess it's a good thing. They could've avoided using the term "ghetto," though.

 

Well, Microsoft didn't call it that. The TV station did.

I wonder if the GPS will explode if you drive through some lovely area like Anacostia, East Palo Alto or East St. Louis.

 

You really do not need a GPS for that. As Chris Rock said if you are on Martin Luther King Blvd you know you are in a bad neighborhood.
