It's funny how these rules can change an entire season.

Last season, a Syracuse area high school tattled on it's rival for using a kid they shouldn't. Turns out kid used to go to that school, so they knew the whole season.

The team that replaced them in the playoffs had never won a postseason game before. Played the tattlers and upset them. The team that squeaked in won the state title.

What a shock, a Michigan/Big Televen double standard.

Really, this makes that conference a joke.

What double standard? Show me proof of another team in the Big Ten having to forfeit a game for a similar infraction.

Are you a pissed off Penn State fan mad that you didn't get a cheap win? Or are you an (insert other conference) fan and just jealous of the Big 10?

Starman just mentioned the Ed Martin fiasco. Certain schools get free rides all the time, and it's pretty sick.

And Buck, I am a Penn State fan, but screw the cheap win; even if they did get it, the Illinois loss is pretty damning.

The Ed Martin situation was quite shitty and Michigan pretty much got off easy (although their basketball program would probably argue).

But this was a violation of a Big 10 rule, not NCAA. Sucks that the Big 10 standards are a little tighter than the NCAA, but as such, they can also decide what is the just punishment.

Ed Martin had "clients" on the Michigan basketball roster virtually every single game from 1982-2001. They should have forfeited about 600 games (and an NCAA title).
