  1. Yes, as a matter of fact, I am.
    Thank you for playing.

I expected such a response. Instead of a lively, yet civil debate, you shirk like I'm some sort of tiger waiting in the bushes intent upon devouring you. If he's not a socialist, prove it. That's the acid test.

Why is it that when you call a socialist a socialist, they go bananas? Michael Moore is a socialist. Anyone who supports the Green Party (socialists all) and its aims of turning the New World into the Old Socialist One is a socialist. Why is that such an insult?

Yes, I know what a socialist is. Michael Moore fits the definition perfectly.

Why is it that the far left have to hide behind endlessly changing labels? First it was liberal, now it's "progressive." Why not embrace what you are: socialists? I don't understand it. I'm a libertarian and I don't hide from all of the baggage that brings. It's just a label.

But can you at least cede my point that waving a smoking joint in front of a cop is just begging to be pinched. Please?

I'm guessing Fenian's next trick will be to tell us that Michael Moore, who is a left-wing lunatic, a loose canon, who takes many liberties with facts (even changes them to meet his version of the truth), is really in step with main stream America.

I cannot think of a bigger windbag and self-promoting idiot from the lunatic fringe than Michael Moore.

  4. Because you clearly wouldn't know "the far Left" -- let alone "socialists" -- if they fell off a shelf and landed on your head. There isn't a more successful entrepreneurial capitalist in the entertainment industry than Michael Moore -- who hasn't been allied with the "Green Party" since 2000, and, back then, the Green Party was pretty much anyone who wasn't for either Bush or Gore. He raises all his own money for his own films, which he tosses out there on the open marketplace to succeed or fail, much the same way Rush marketed his radio show. (Compared, for example, to all the "free market conservative" authors who'd be selling apples if it weren't for wingnut welfare bulk buys.) His opinions on guns are to the right of mine, and his opinion on health care is shared by the entire industrialized world, most Americans, and the VA.

And, in any event, none of that is a crime.

Trust me, I know socialists and far lefties because I work with plenty of them.

You just made my point on his hypocricy: he is by his actions (not his words) a capitalist, yet he wants to tear down the very system that made him wealthy.

As for folks agreeing with his take on health care, I've got one question: if the Federal government wastes billions of dollars and has no idea where they went, can't deliver a simple parcel in less than a week, and has plenty of other inefficiencies I'd need a book to detail, why do we want them taking charge of health care? If you need emergency services, you will be taken care of in any hospital. Why do we want the Federal government ruining everyone's health care just to cover some folks, through poor decision-making, can't take care of their health care? There's already Medicare and Medicaid. Do we need the government taking charge of every facet of that sector of the economy (which would be socialism)? The answer is not just no, but hell no. Entitlements already take up the lion's share of the bloated Federal budget. Adding more to that burden is just foolish.

  6. And you still don't know what you're talking about. Jesus, what'd you do, read Milton Friedman half an hour ago?
There is nothing in any of his films about "tearing down" anything. They have been critical of, in order: American corporations, some (but not all) of America's fascination with guns, and the post-9/11 response of the US government -- the latter view now held by 70 percent of the American people. He uses a system to shine his own light on the system. I can't speak to the new film because I haven't seen it but, if you think the US health-care system works well, I hope you never have to find out how wrong you are. And, on the larger, philosophical point -- next time you're googling, plug in "GI Bill," or "Interstate Highway System" or any number of other socialist schemes that made the American middle-class possible.

    He fights for the unrepresented.

There is no more noble of a pursuit.

He did it when he wasn't making shit on his movies, and he's doing it now, too.

What the FUCK have you done to look out for your fellow man?

Sorry Ragu, but Zeke was right on in dismissing this clown from post number 1.

When someone starts arguing that all "liberals" are socialsts, you really have to question their sanity. I'm guessing that your lack of a follow-up post on this means you saw where the guy was going and backed off.
