But it's now a dilapidated, crumbling, rusting dump in a shit neighborhood.

What the hell are you talking about? USC shared the Coliseum with the Rams until '79 and then with the Raiders from '82-'95.

Joe Rossi makes a better argument for the Orange Bowl. When yours starts with USC and UCLA calling it their home field as opposed to using Super Bowls, memorable NFL postseason games and Flutie's miracle, it's not that close.

I miss the USC-UCLA games at the Coliseum when it was both their home field and both wore the dark jerseys.

Yes JOe, we could have a great conversation.

    Try these:

    1. Super Bowl I. The Packers show the NFL still rules.

    2. USC 20, ND 17, 1964. ND's return to glory under Ara and dream of a national championship is ruined by a fourth-quarter rally. Great game.

    3. USC 55, ND 24, 1974. The 55-point comeback. Anthony Davis scores six TDs.

    4. USC 21, UCLA 20, 1967. OJ Simpson's 67-yard run in which at least 10 UCLA players had a shot at him. Maybe one of the top 5 runs in college FB history. A play equal to Flutie's, you just don't see it very often because it happened so long ago, wasn't on ESPN, and the film quality isn't very good.

That's just off the top of my head. Doesn't include games played by the Fearsome Foursome, Bob Waterfield, and other Rams greats, the other Super Bowl, NFL championships, etc.

Uh, and if USC and UCLA - two of the most successful teams in college football history, with many NCs/Heisman Trophy winners - playing there for more than a combined 100 years, it stands to reason there would be a lot more great college games there than at the Orange Bowl, where Miami basically was an average-to-fair program from 1935-80 until Howard Schnellenberger began the turnaround, the Orange Bowl game notwithstanding, which had at least one all-white team for many, many years any time it included an SEC representative.

It wasn't just USC and UCLA "teams" that played at the Coliseum, as you infer. It was national-championship teams, chocked with Heisman winners and future NFL stars by the dozens.

I inferred that you meant at the same time.

    Dude...

If you think that the OB doesn't have plenty of great, high-caliber college regular-season action loaded with NFL players, you would be mistaken.

I hope the Marlins will incorporate some facsimile of the Orange Bowl end zone facade in the new ballpark.

That's at least a month old.

    It's gone completely.

Funny, the only item they had any difficulty getting down was the pressbox. Foreman said that there probably wasn't a more sturdy room in Miami-Dade county.

Ever watch a game there as a fan? It was a shithole that should have been torn down 15-20 years ago.
