Mexico City earthquake

    Please don't go there with this thread. Some of us are legitimately concerned with people, which include friends and colleagues, in Mexico City.

    The Patriots are supposed to play the Raiders there later this season. Judging by the pictures of the stadium, that's not gonna happen.

    Supposedly after the 8.0 quake, building standards were drastically tightened. You would think the older structures that survived the 1985 quake as well as the new construction would make it through a 7.1. But it is Mexico City after all, so it's likely some building inspectors were on the take.

    Mexico City is so big and so old, there have to be thousands and thousands of buildings being used today that were constructed when there were no codes at all.

    And it also doesn't help that the city was built on land that basically has the consistency of jello.
