No venom toward officials in particular ... as said earlier, my wife is one.
I just interperate "fuck-fucking-fuck-put that in your paper" as as less than being contrite and more being pissed that he was proved to have something complete reverse from correct.
I'm pleased to amuse you. $84K isn't that far off from six figures, and seeing as how there are very few Major League umps just starting out, most of them are above that.

    They deserve more than that.

My argument is not from a Mets fan standpoint. MLB owes it to the sport to get calls like that right.

I enjoyed SI.com's Jon Heyman describing Davidson as "always sure of himself but often wrong."

    Good ones do.

    Joe West doesn't.

I met Cowboy Joe as a kid and he was a prince.

Umpiring is the hardest job I've ever or will ever have.

The deadliest combination in day-to-day human history is inflated ego and substandard capabilities (related to the job at hand).

Should you choose to call it that.

    Delusion, etc.

    Yeah, I meant allegedly singing.

And good, CONSISTENT umpires are worth their weight in GOLD. GOLD.

But the current emphasis on spreading the postseason goodies rather than rewarding the clearly-most-competitent is galling.
