Apparently, that's what Phil Gramm thinks we're in. Explains a lot about why UBS is so badly in the tank, they've warned European-based executives not to travel to America for fear of getting arrested. As always, we can count on the Republicans to feel our economic pain.

Quote in the middle of the story

"Misery sells newspapers," Mr. Gramm said. "Thank God the economy is not as bad as you read in the newspaper every day."

Anyone else want to tell him, or should I?

Damn, GB, beat me to it.

Has he been paying attention to the newspaper industry at all? It's rich, comfy suits like him that have hastened the hollowing out of newsrooms and held the power over the production of newspapers.

If the Obama camp doesn't immediately start cranking out new ads killing McCain for this nonsense, they should just quit.

How out of touch can one political party be?
