Mel Hall -- Sexual Predator

Drip I hope that you are going to write a book one day about
all of the personalities that you have met. You are truly the
insiders insider when you know Mel Hall as Slugo. I bet
that Francesa did not even get to call him Slugo.

 

FWIW, the story that led to this thread mentions that Hall was called "Sluggo" by some teammates. But yeah, I've been following baseball religiously for 30-something years and I'd never heard him called that either.

 

The players were mocking him by calling him "Sluggo" so it's not something that would generally get out.

 

Again, it was Don Slaught's name but a few people called Hall Sluggo. Hall was a very strange guy but this stuff is surprising.

 

I don't know about being an insiders insider but it's not that big of a deal Boom. Mel Hall was a strange guy.

 

If sabre-metrics existed back then the family would have never let
Hall in the house with a -.07 WAR.

 

Michael Jackson slept in the same bed with preteen boys and no one batted an eye. Not for quite a while anyhow.

(The funny part is that I first phrased that reply as "Michael Jackson did it with...")

 

You called him Sluggo -- just a few posts ago.

And, for people who knew Hall, or were "insiders" during those Yankees' years, this stuff is not surprising.

His teammates teased him about young girls too. The family from Fairfield would sit in the family section with his teammates wives. Their fucking prom picture was in the yearbook.

It might not have been a public story, but it was an open secret I would expect a guy who knew Hall as Sluggo to be in on.

 

I'm going to call him Sluggo from now on. Just so that every time I do, you can remember back to the time when you and Boom thought this was such a big fucking thing that you tried to make a fool out of a guy over it.

 

You best get started then Sluggo, because this thread probably
has a shelf life of another 4 hours before it starts sinking to the bottom.
And then it's doubtful that Mel Hall will ever be mentioned again on
