If they never get a raise or promotion, or use their experience to land another job.

    How likely is that?

It's the difference between giving someone a fish, and teaching them how to fish.

Or, if you're Mitt Romney, taking away what little fish they have and taking their fishing pole as you kick their ass out in the street.

I'm still satisfied with the idea that I've made some progress with this argument.

Except they're not being taught how to fish. They're being thrown in the water without a life preserver and they're told to catch the fish in their mouths. And then when they do so, they're told they're only allowed to eat the fish's tail, while the company gets the rest of the fish.

Place is so crowded, no one goes there anymore.

True, as far as it goes.

Of course, the same I-banker who is calling on CEOs this year, advising that conglomeration will bring synergy and economies of scale, will be back five years later preaching that they should break up the company to unlock the potential value of its components.

Yeah, I guess you're right. A discounted utility bill is a better deal than a job.

It's not like any entry level employee has ever amounted to much anyway.

Consumer advocacy vs. creating entry-level jobs. Apples...oranges....etc.

    Exactly.
