McClatchy woes could mean more layoffs in June....

  1. So says the rumor mill at this blog site:

Egads. Just laid off 1,400 more (including me) last week. FYI, CEO Gary Pruitt ended a company-wide video last year with "You Can't Always Get What You Want" from the Rolling Stones. Me thinks a lot of folks want him out now.

Who the heck is left after the last round of cuts? If my last shop was any guide, they'll be slicing into bone next. Ugh.

  3. What do you mean by 'next'? We cut into bone last time. Next cuts will be amputations.

After all the cuts are made, management will remain to put out the paper. Let that sink in...

McClatchy: It's like JRC without the evil face of Bob Jelloneck at the top!

As stated before, the last to leave turn out the lights, would you?

How can they cut anyone else? Someone has got to put out the paper.

Sounds like everybody is going Web only soon in McClatchey.

If they haven't made a real business case for that extreme step when times were good, what makes the wizards of smart in Sac-town think they can now?

I'm glad that I'm not a McClatchy employee any more and feel bad for those who do.

Furloughs at my shop, on top of a 9 percent pay cut in the last year and the loss of my overtime means things will be very tight in the SC household.

    Furloughs? Jesus.
