McClatchy to eliminate 1,600 jobs

    My understanding is the Kansas Star will be preparing pages, including in the A section, for other papers in the chain. Wonder how that will affect staffing there.

    This is happening on more and more pages in Tribune papers every day -- A section, and business for sure right now. I'm told baseball roundup pages might be standardized across Tribune papers this summer.

    More hardworking people laid off. Then there's my boss, who only works 30-35 hours per week. Too bad he can't get laid off.

    I can't read the story right now, but when are the cuts supposed to occur? Hopefully over a full year and not just in a month like Gannett.
